The Challenge of the Quran’s Corrective Role
A Logical Paradox
Islam claims that the Quran was revealed to correct distortions in previous scriptures, particularly regarding the message of Jesus. However, this claim presents several contradictions when examined logically.
1. The Paradox of Christianity’s Dominance
Surah 61:14 states that Jesus' followers were made victorious and dominant.
Historically, Christianity became the dominant global religion long before Islam.
If Christianity’s success was part of Allah’s divine plan, then its message should have been preserved, not corrupted.
If Christianity’s message was corrupted, then how can its dominance be seen as divinely ordained?
🔹 Contradiction: If Allah ensured the dominance of Jesus’ followers, yet Islam claims Christianity became corrupt, then Allah allowed a corrupted religion to dominate for centuries before correcting it.
2. The Problem of Delayed Correction
Islam claims that Christianity was corrupted soon after Jesus, yet Allah waited 600 years before sending the Quran to correct it.
This means that for over half a millennium, billions of people were left without access to the true message.
If Allah is all-powerful and intends to guide people, why allow a distorted version of his message to spread unchecked for so long?
🔹 Contradiction: A truly merciful and just deity would logically preserve His message from corruption rather than waiting centuries to correct it.
3. The Inconsistency of Scripture Preservation
Islam acknowledges that previous scriptures were divinely revealed but claims they were later corrupted by humans.
However, the Quran claims that Allah is responsible for protecting revelation:
Surah 15:9: "Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will be its guardian."
If Allah could protect the Quran, why did He fail to protect earlier scriptures that were also part of His divine plan?
If divine messages were corrupted once, what prevents the Quran from facing the same fate?
🔹 Contradiction: If Allah allowed previous scriptures to be altered, it raises the question: Why should the Quran be considered immune to corruption?
4. If the True Message Was Lost, Then Allah’s Plan Failed
If Jesus’ original message was corrupted beyond recognition, then Allah’s revelation was ineffective in preserving the truth for centuries.
If Christianity was allowed to dominate despite corruption, then Allah enabled the spread of falsehood rather than stopping it.
If Islam was the necessary correction, then why didn’t Allah ensure that all people would accept it, instead of allowing Christianity to remain the world’s largest religion today?
🔹 Contradiction: If Allah’s plan was to reveal and protect divine truth, then allowing it to be corrupted and waiting 600 years to fix it contradicts the idea of divine wisdom and omnipotence.
Conclusion: A Theological and Logical Dilemma
If Christianity’s dominance was part of Allah’s plan, then its message should have been true, making the Quran’s correction unnecessary.
If Christianity was corrupted but still allowed to dominate, then Allah failed to protect His own message, which contradicts divine omnipotence.
If Allah could protect the Quran, then why didn’t He protect previous revelations?
If people were left without guidance for centuries, it contradicts the Islamic idea that Allah is just and merciful.
This presents a major inconsistency in Islam’s claim that previous scriptures were divinely inspired yet corrupted while insisting that the Quran alone is perfectly preserved. The argument for the Quran as a necessary correction fails logically, as it implies that Allah either allowed falsehood to thrive unchecked or was unable to prevent His message from being lost.
